Thread lifting is a non-surgical treatment which is classified as permanent or non permanent (dissolvable). Over many years this procedure has developed to treat many of the indications that were difficult to correct non-surgically with procedures such as skin peels, botox or dermal fillers.
History of Thread Lifting
The cosmetic use of threads for the lifting of the face or body has been used for more than 20 years. Gold threads were created to lift the face and there are still some practitioners using the technique today. In 1999 the permanent lifting thread Aptos was created from polypropylene (Anti-Ptosis).
In more recent times the development of dissolvable threads has created new interest in this well-proven technique, with a few improvements and added benefits.
The brand names of dissolvable threads include the V Soft lift, and the Silhouette Soft from Sinclair Pharma.
Types of threads
Threads can be classified according to their design and mode of action.
PERMANENT - Silhouette, Aptos
NON-PERMANENT – gold, V soft
