How do Chemical Peels, Dermaroller and Skin Care Contribute to Facial Aesthetics?

Understanding Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

The skin

Basal/Keratin cells are created by stem cells at the dermal epidermal junction.

The process of the basal cells moving upwards is call keratinization.

Of the basal layer, 10% of cells are stem cells, 50% are amplifying cells, and 40% are postmitotic cells. The postmitotic cells continuously move upwards through the epidermal layers until they reach the stratum cornium where the cells contain no nucleus and will exfoliate as new postmitotic cells reach the stratum cornium. With ageing this process is compromised with lesser migration of postmitotic cells resulting in a buildup of dead cells in the stratum cornium. A thick stratum cornium will make the skin greasy, dull, lifeless, and lacklustre.

Improving the skin.
How do chemical peels, microdermabrasion, derma roller and skin care contribute towards skin health and skin attractiveness.

The answer is normally stem cells are slowly dividing cells and with age these cells divide even slower but under certain conditions such as wound healing they divide faster. Chemical peels, mesotherapy and dermaroller treatments injure the skin. Therefore these procedures contribute to increased cellular activity at the basal layer which leads to increased cellular turnover resulting in a uniform stratum cornium, thicker epidermis, and increased fibroblast activity at the basal layer. Chemical peels especially TCA peels can dramatically improve damaged skin due to lifestyle issue. The intensive exfoliation of the epidermal layers will improve the elasiticity, texture, and clearness of the skin.

Dermaroller Micro Needling

Dermaroller treatments simply injure the skin resulting in massive cellular activity which dramatically resolves numerous skin problems like scar marks, sun damaged skin, fine lines and more.

Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy has a dual action since the needle punctures injure the skin and at the same time the clinician is injecting nutrients and hyaluronic acid into the mesoderm. The results are amazing.

Skin Care Courses and Packages

The correct skin care package can do wonders for young and mature clients. A good skin care package designed by a specialist will always include glycolic to enhance cellular function combined with anti-oxidants for protection and nutrition for skin repair. A bespoke skin management package used daily will protect and improve the skin continuously.

Given a choice, most clients would prefer to engage in a program that preserves their natural beauty rather than wait for folds and lines to appear.

The Benefits of Chemical Peels, Dermaroller and Mesotherapy

Improving the Skin-Facial Rejuvenation with Skin Peels, Dermaroller and Mesotherapy.

Understanding the skin and the benefits of adding these cosmetic skin care treatments to your clinic.

A thick stratum cornium will make the skin greasy, dull, lifeless, and lacklustre. When the skin is compromised, the effects of Botox or Botox and Dermal Fillers is less dramatic since the canvas of the face is flawed. Therefore skin health should be a part of the repertoire of all medical aesthetic practitioners.

The objective of this industry is to improve the appearance of the individual and chemical peels, derma oller and mesotherapy are less expensive, improve the entire face, improves hands and neck areas, and the treatments make patients happy due to the cost and outstanding results. There is never a complaint.

Is Marketing Important For My Success in Medical Aesthetics.

Yasmin Khan author “Simple Steps to Building Successful Cosmetic Practices”

The five cosmetic marketing activities discussed so far are necessary activities if one has the desire to establish a successful and sustainable business in an industry that is competitive and is easy to enter. Also most clinic owners are weak in marketing and by not investing time and money into research, market analysis, segmentation, buyer behaviour and competition, the initial business structure is weak and vulnerable to the many competitors who are entering on a weekly basis.

Marketing for the Cosmetic Business

The intellectual resource gained from the research or five activities mentioned in previous marketing articles is necessary to complete the next five activities and they are:

Market Planning (Mission Setting Objectives Vision Planning Process)It is very difficult to determine your mission and visualize your concept if you have no idea of the market and its needs and desires. Most clinics provide a list of services which they are hoping the small elective cosmetic base will like. This is a clear sign of a weak business and I pick it this up very quickly when evaluating competitors. A competitor’s website and brochure will provide me with all the information I need to evaluate the weakness of the business.

Branding –(Brand Names-Brand Building- - Brand Promotion) Most people believe that branding is your design concept and logo. This is called the brand concept and the confusion by medical professionals of what exactly branding is has left them vulnerable to predator designers who are promising to make a business successful through design. Companies with a bad reputation will still have a bad reputation regardless of the brand image. A brand is developed over time by the leaders and the employees of the company through their commitment to deliver their vision. If the visionary is greedy, the culture will be greedy and the brand will be known for this. I experienced this with two very successful medical professionals who undelivered to their private patients believing that their brand image was enough to create loyal customers. Today, they are both bankrupt and so are a hundred other medical aesthetic business.

Pricing: Pricing strategy is overlooked by the medical arena and the lack of experience in this area of business is commoditizing the non surgical industry. Today, hair stylist are commanding a better return on investment for their time.

Promotion: Most clinicians go straight to this activity without any preparation believing that the client will act and behave like a patient on the NHS. There are only a few clients wanting to pay premium price for enhancement treatment so what you say, your branding, your consultation skills and your positioning will determine your success to draw the client in and to keep them returning.

Distribution: Distribution Channels are your locations where you provide your service. It can be one location or multiple locations. Most clinicians tend to aspire to be in a rich area or on a prestigious medical street but I think it is better to choose your locations based on convenience, parking, traffic, accessibility to tube and train station etc…..

In summary, marketing is a complex subject not limited to advertising. It is the least of the marketing executive concerns and the marketer know fully well that the accuracy of the advertising message must be accurate to pull the customer in and accuracy can only be achieved with preparation and planning before the business open its door.

The CPD approved Introduction to Medical Aesthetics and Starting a Cosmetic Clinic is a cosmetic business e-learning course provided free to all candidates attending the foundation botox training courses, this course will help attendees to understand the medical aesthetics business and provide a guide to starting their cosmetic practice.

In the next part of this article Yasmin reviews one of the options presently available which is providing cosmetic treatments in a beauty or health spa and the marketing benefits of this cosmetic business model for new cosmetic clinicians on completion of their cosmetic training courses.

Creating a sustainable Medical Aesthetic Clinic within the Salon Business Model

Cosmetic Salon Business and Medical Aesthetics Marketing

Part 3 Medical and Aesthetic Marketing by Yasmin Khan

Continuing on from my last blog , I left off by saying that the salon environment can be a profitable business option but to be successful in medical aesthetics with this business structure still requires assistance from the clinician if the relationship is to be long term and sustainable. New entrants into the medical aesthetic market are much more aggressive leaving the salon type business exposed to new competitors who may offer the salon owner a much more profitable split or competing clinicians may provide more services and are willing to assist the salon owner with marketing type activities.

If you are in a salon type business and wanted to protect your future, you may want to discuss a legal joint venture agreement with the owner to safeguard your future and your commitment in time and effort to grow your business within the salon environment. If you are a Botox and Dermal Filler clinician you may wish to improve your skill sets and offer more services to the clients making yourself irreplaceable . In my book, I spoke of different programs such as referral programs which you can develop make the clients committed to your business. You have to make yourself irreplaceable to safeguard your business.

The various options for starting a cosmetic practice and marketing are covered in the complimentary e-learning course that is available to all attendees of the KT Training botox course. All cosmetic procedure and business courses have verifiable CPD points approved.

What is the definition of facial beauty?

The components that make this face beautiful are multifaceted and below is a list of the features of a beautiful face.

Components of Perfect Facial Aesthetics

The skin is flawless, even textured, full with proper volume, hydrated and tolerant

The cheekbones are high and symmetrical with no skin laxity

The jawline is chiselled with no jowls

Mouth to nose proportions are balanced

The distance from the cupid bow to the tip of the nose is short creating a sexy outcome.

Neck is smooth and with little sun damage

Pupils of the eyes are clear and healthy

The face above will age however the rate at which the face and body ages can be slowed down dramatically if non-surgical professionals embraced prevention rather than quick fix procedures only. The concept of prevention is an intangible concept. There are no before and after results. Prevention philosophy focuses on maintaining the health of the skin and body to sustain beauty. Therefore you are not correcting problems but providing a service that helps the client to improve and sustain their present state for as long as possible.

Skin Health

Therefore if the health of the skin is preserved in its inactive stage, the skin will remain flawless, even textured, hydrated and tolerant. Facial balance and proportions will remain intact for a longer period than those who neglect their health and skin. If non-surgical clinicians advised their clients on managing his/her skin health the client will benefit since good skin, bone density and facial muscularity will keep the face lifted and youthful.

The procedures that contribute towards skin health are chemical peels, derma roller, cosmeceutical skin care and mesotherapy and these procedures are invaluable to the sustainability of any non- surgical clinic. My next blog will discuss how these procedures differ from Dermal Fillers and Muscle Relaxants and why they are the new key procedures to add to your procedure menu if you wish to keep your customers happy for life.
