Staff and Associate Training in Medical Aesthetics Online Courses

How do you increase booked consultations for your clinic?

Increase your Consultations by Educating Associates

In medical aesthetics it is important for staff and associates to understand the procedures provided by each clinician and the indications they can treat.

Teaching associates and staff about these treatments will enable them to answer questions confidently when they receive enquiries.

How will empowering the aesthetics team with knowledge increase booked consultations?

When a potential client visits or contacts a strategic partner (business, spa or salon who promotes your clinic) or even your own clinic they are assessing to ensure they make the right choice. They need information before they even consider a consultation. If your team have been educated and can communicate the correct information it will improve booked consultations and the patients experience.

For example a customer walks into a spa and picks up your brochure, briefly reviews the treatments and visits the receptionist to ask about the treatments provided.

How will the receptionist respond?

A) “Sorry i don’t know anything about that please contact the clinic directly”

Or

B) “Let me tell you about the clinician and the treatments, would you like me to book a consultation with the clinician for you”

Knowing you and what you do will empower your team which will also increase the confidence of the clients to move to the next stage a booked consultation.

Educating your team can be time consuming, but it is also essential to the success of any cosmetic clinic.

Medical Market understanding Cosmetic Marketing (continued)

Developing a Cosmetic Practice

Medical Aesthetics Marketing for Medical Professionals

Following on from my last article on aesthetics marketing you want to next focus on the following marketing topics.

Buyer Behaviour (Cultural Factors -Buying Power-Social Factors-Decision Making Process) Assessing if a market will pay for medical aesthetic services is not based solely on wealth but on cultural factors and decision making processes. If the market is rich but conservative with very little women in high paying jobs, then this will impact how you position your service to the local market.

Competitive Analysis-Competitor Advantage- almost all non surgical clinics and salons are weak in marketing so a competitive analysis without the recommended market research will only tell you what the competitors are doing good or bad but not about the market itself. Therefore even if you think your services are superior to your competitors, they might not be appropriate for the consumer. Therefore you are still in a weak position for long term sustainability since a stronger competitor with the correct market intelligence can come in and knock everyone out. We were successful in achieving this results in 2005 when we entered the medical aesthetic training market. The Beauty Society who is our client also did the same to the HIgh Wycome, Thames, and London market.

Market Segmentation- this is one of my favourite subject since the lack of understanding of this subject in medicine is critical to revenue loss. In medical aesthetics the market should be segmented by age, ethnicity, and gender. The needs of each segment is not mutually exclusive but the positioning of a particular treatment has to be completely different to each segment. For instance chemical peels should be positioned to the youth segment differently than to the mature segment and to the ethnic segment. Therefore one treatment can become much more appealing to each market segment if the message to each segment was customized to solve their unique skin problem. The medical aesthetic market tend to list procedures and hope the client will determine if the treatment will benefit him or her.

Medical Aesthetics

Segmentation strategies can be found in my book “Simple Steps to Building Successful Cosmetic Practices”.

Medical Market Understand Marketing

The Cosmetic Business and Cosmetic Marketing

Understanding Marketing in Aesthetics Medicine

Part1

Many clinic owners and medical professionals believe marketing is one activity that will magically create overnight success. With this in mind, many clinicians will invest huge amount of money in print advertising and SEO optimisation believing this is all that is required to achieve and sustain success. Many clinics have struggled due to over investing in expensive exposure activities ignoring the fundamentals of marketing. The objective of this blog is to give you a quick overview of all the areas of marketing that has to be considered to set up a business which will survive in today’s competitive medical aesthetic market.

The key areas of marketing all clinic should engage in are as follows:

Research-(Market Research-Market Trends) research activities will provide you with invaluable information as to if your local market can pay for your services which in most cases are Botox and Dermal Filler treatments. By just adding less expensive treatments with great market acceptability to your offering you can dramatically improve your revenue base. This research in combination with the other areas of marketing will provide the basis for your promotional activities.

Market Analysis (Define the market –determine market share- how to measure market share) Market research is different from market analysis. Here you want to assess how large the aesthetic market is in your local area and which competitor is the present market leader. There are no statistics for aesthetics so you will have to guess. For example, there are approximately 700,000 Botox procedures presently provided to the UK market annually. From the library, you can view the statistics for beauty consumption for all of the UK and for your local area. If your areas consumes 10% of overall beauty services then it is a safe bet to guess that approximately 70,000 Botox procedures are consumed in your local market. It is not this simple but this is start. Cultural preferences and decision making processes will impact this figure and in my next article I will continue with all the other aspects of marketing that must be taken into consideration before the business opens its door. In summary defining the market means does the market care for beauty at all or is it a very conservative rural market. The beauty statistics for your local market is also helpful in assessing the lifestyle choices of the market.

So what is the next step step, Yasmin reviews aesthetics marketing more in part 2 of the article.

Why is Planning Your Medical Aesthetic Business Important?

Why is it necessary to plan your business model before you start your medical aesthetic clinic.

When you enter the commercial world of medical aesthetics you are not competing with just yourself. You are competing with larger and smarter companies than yourself who are prepared to out perform you to attract the limited private patient market. Therefore you may be skilled as a business person and feel confident about your ability to run a business without planning the business beforehand, however, planning will reduce competitive and financial risks. Also, there is easy entry into the medical aesthetic market. In any month, there are 100 of new suppliers entering into the market, diluting the opportunities for existing businesses.

The amount of planning required to develop a medical aesthetic business depends on the kind of business and the size of the business. It is also linked to the amount of investment being put in. Larger, more complex start-ups require more detailed business plans while smaller start up business do not require as detailed a plan.

What sort of business plan do you need for your cosmetic clinic?

The level of business planning is dependent on the type of business structure you choose.

Many clinicians are choosing to use the Salon Environment as their choice of business structure. There is a misconception by clinicians that they only need to negotiate percentage split and the booking of the procedures is the responsibility of the Salon Owner. However, even the salon environment is becoming competitive so clinicians have to be prepared to develop the salon program with the salon owner to make the venture a success. At KT Training, we not only provide a formal salon program business plan but we outline how the salon owner and clinician will work together to build this strategic relationship for the long term. In the next article, I will discuss the marketing mixes within the salon environment which can be implemented by the salon owner and clinician to continuously market the clinician’s skills resulting in more booked procedure for each clinic.

Medical Aesthetics Business, Planning and Development

Is it easy to transition from Azzalure to Vistabel/ BOTOX

Medical Aesthetics Courses

Frequently Asked Questions

BOTOX Training
Firstly I must point out the units and dilutions are not transferable between the various different botulinum toxin products.

There are many differences between the botulinum toxin products available on the market especially with Azzalure and Botox. Azzalure is provided in 125 Speywood unit vials and Botox is provided in 100 unit vials and Vistabel in 50 unit vials other differences include pharmacology, lethal doses and licensed degree of use for medical and cosmetic purposes to name a few.

Azzalure requires a higher volume of units per injection site than required with Botox to achieve similar results, most practitioners recommend that 3 units of Azzalure can be used to 1 unit of Botox to achieve these results.

At the KT Training introduction to Botox course we teach clinicians to reconstitute BOTOX/VISTABEL

Botox (100 unit vials) with 2ML of bacteriostatic sodium chloride 0.9%
Vistabel (50 unit vials) with 1ML of bacteriostatic sodium chloride 0.9%

Various dilutions exist for Botox/Vistabel we find these dilutions straightforward for new injectors. The ease of transition would depend on whether your original training with Azzalure covered standard metric ML dilutions and units or the Speywood units.

For many experienced botulinum toxin injectors the transition can be very straightforward. If you are unsure of the transition from Azzalure to Botox I would recommend one of the refresher Botox training courses which will provide a comprehensive knowledge of the Botox and Vistabel product plus hands-on injection time with patients provided to ensure a good level of confidence. For more information regarding refresher Botox training courses please contact KT Training.

Premier of the Lip Augmentation Class!

10th, March, 2012 - Swindon - 7:15am

We have just packed up the car and are almost ready to head to High Wycombe. We are leaving early because we do not want anything to stand in the way of having a perfect launch of our New Advanced Lip Master Class. We have had tons of rest and the roads are clear, Adrian and myself, believe it is going to be a fantastic day!

Arrival at The Beauty Society - High Wycombe - 8:30am

Once we arrive at The Beauty Society in High Wycombe (an hour and a half early!) we unload the car and begin setting up in the colourful venue. The computer, lecture notes, food, and practical room are all set, with the finishing touch of red “lips” chocolates being laid out on the chairs, as suggested by our Model Manager, Nadia! Now all we have to do is wait for the delegates and the trainer, Mr. Andrew Rankin of Regenix, to arrive.

Beginning of Training Day - 10:00am

Whew! Nearly all of the delegates arrive on time, and the practical training models are confirmed and excited for their treatment. Adrian and myself, double check everything to ensure that we are ready for any sudden changes, but everything seems to be fine! We relished the fact that we got to see the familiar faces of return delegates, and also got to put a face to the name of the new clients!

Beginning of Practical Training - 1:00pm to 5:30pm

The practical training went off without a hitch and the treatment models were really happy with the results! To make the day even better, we finished just about on time and we received excellent reviews on the end of day evaluations! It felt great to deliver a fantastic course to our valued delegates and I just cannot wait to see them at another KT Training course!
